GRAPES: 100% SIVI PINOT (PINOT GRIS)
SKIN CONTACT: 8 DAYS
REGION: FRIULI-VENEZIA GIULIA, ITALY
Vinification method: Situated in the hills bordering Italy and Slovenia, winemaker Franco Terpin produces some of the most outstanding and coveted orange wines in Italy. Franco’s vineyards are located in the rugged hills surrounding the small town of San Floriano del Collio, in the Friuli winemaking region, and cover approximately 12 hectares with vines at altitudes ranging from 120 to 320 meters above sea level. He’s said he wants his wine to evoke dreams - complex, mysterious, and thought-provoking.
The Sivi Pinot grapes are hand-harvested, then they undergo spontaneous fermentation in Slavonian oak vats, with maceration on the skins for 8 days. Followed by maturation in Salvonian oak barrels for 12 months, then stainless steel for 12 more months, then 4 years in the bottle. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, no added S02.
