GRAPES: 100% RODITIS
SKIN CONTACT: 12 DAYS
REGION: PELOPONNESE, GREECE
Vinification method: Named for the Greek gods of the sun and north wind, second-generation winemakers Antonia and Giannis are capturing the Mediterranean coast in a bottle with "Vorias & Helios." The siblings took over the winery started by their family in 1982 and focused on cultivating a range of native Greek grape varietals with organic practices. Located between the river Alfeio and the slopes of Mount Lapitha, near Ancient Olympia, the brothers of the Markoyanni winery chose to take advantage of the special mid-climatic conditions of the area.
This wine is made from Roditis grapes grown on 30-year-old vines on sandy loam soils. The grapes macerate on the skins for 12 days before fermenting in stainless steel tanks. Unfined, unfiltered, with no added SO2
